Pat Lawson was a special friend who lived next door. Our houses were only feet away from the Hayward fault in the Berkeley hills. Pats' life is a story is remarkable and touching in many ways. He merits a page of his own here.
Among many other quirks of fate his father Andrew Lawson was the man who first mapped the San Andreas fault and set the seismic and geologic standards for the Golden Gate Bridge.
